Stuck in a 'Magic Position'~

... although oddly slow to run across the fantabulously tall and eccentric Patrick Wolf, he has become my man of the moment- at least as far as my ipod is concerned. completely unclassifiable and musically gifted, his deep and heartful voice does a nice turn on some addictive lyrics while he plays a crazy number of instruments. have a listen to the latest>>>

On February 27, 2007, in an interview with The London Paper, Patrick Wolf raised many questions about his sexuality: “In the same way I don’t know if my sixth album is going to be a death-metal record or children’s pop, I don’t know whether I’m destined to live my life with a horse, a woman or a man. It makes life easier.”

Unite and Conquer...

Frank Rich is usally ahead of the curve as evidenced by the op-ed below... however, I still continually wonder why so many people remain slow to catch onto the real dynamics of the presidential primary races and the underlying forces that move them. Some thoughts follow below as a beginning to my stategic assault on the unmentionables: politics, religion, sex, race and whatnot. Stay tuned for more...

... hmmmm

I suppose the time has come to face, what for me, is the biggest puzzle of American society... the either/or pathology whose subtle power influences almost evrything we think, say, do and don't do. While worlds of books could be written to address the many individual feeding pipes into this unsavory cauldron (stay tuned for one from your blogger!), it comes down to one multi-headed hydra of a question:

Why oh why oh why must different belief systems be mutually exclusive? Why can't the reed bend and why can't we have some of the best of all possible worlds in politics, faith, love, work and Life?

It may partly be laziness, or bigotry, or confusion, or stress or fear- but this white, Christian, gay, spiritually-oriented, art, sci-fi and music loving humanitarian and citizen of the world writer sees no credible or justifiable reason why each citizen cannot enfold enough experiences, beliefs and values within to transcend pettiness and find their "higher selves," while simultaneously interfacing socially for the betterment of each other, country, world and Universe? If I am missing something, I stand open for advice and argumentation, but consider this as I make a case for 21st. century wellbeing...

Grounding Down

From deep within a molten brain afire,
Bursts a long and strong-armed silver tree
Drawn from blue-white light and heat
Overreaching burnt and empty garden ground
Of secret stillborn seeds,
And still more silent dead ideals
Which wrap and twine like viscous broken veins
Ripped from false earth,
Left ripe and hallowed now-
Prepared sacred and shimmering
Brushed by Apollonian dawn
Dionysius washed in even-light
Binding us beyond politics,
Or reckless religious proof.
Cindering all contrived imagined dreams
Of all those heavy failed "ought to bes"
Saying yes to all the charms of now,
Not past lives' promised clues
Projecting through on naked snowy flesh
While worshipping Winter slides aside
The pyre of me and you.

Summer Bright

-for JDTMS

Curious clouds-
Indecisive as to their objective as regards
Reducing light, or letting through
Alternating surfaces of lakes untold
Stretching to the far horizon through vehicles
Of color-changing hues…
Aquatic brown, green, turquoise, blue.
Eternal summer sun lies washed on beach's edge
False order imposed on unrelenting and intractable Difference among eccentric, rootless lives.
Circled round to our urban garden
Past cordoned purple daisies
Displaying orange gumdrop treats for bumble bees,
Lucky butterflies, or passersby-
Colors later replaced by the sparkling and joyful Flickering symphony
Of lightening bugs, stray dragonflies
Until we’re home shrouded in the comfort
Of city’s mystery wrapped in sheltering skies.
Knowing today the universe made a deal
With the coldness of eternity for an afternoon of sky
Providing tent and castle where you and I
Eat nature’s gentle handouts-
Wild pink raspberries…
And close tired yearning eyes
Upon courtyard’s cool forgiving carpet.
