THE CASE FOR GOD-

http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/jul/04/case-for-god-karen-armstrong

Karen Armstrong leans heavily on the distinction that Greek philosophers made between "logos" and "mythos" says Alain de Botton in the London Observer as noted in the October 9 issue of The Week. One mode of knowledge allowed an individual to function effectively in the everyday world, while the other addressed the pain and mysteries of life. Religion (properly) belonged in the same realm as art and music, and the practice of both art and religion was a means of "stepping outside of the norm for the sake of release and consolation" (and personal transcendence). A belief in the God of the ancients requires uncertainty, not unlike the condition necessary prior to the search for scientific proof of natural phenomena.
